Dr. Shelly Furuness is the Interim Program Director for Faith at the Crossroads. Shelly has Bachelors in Secondary English Education, a Masters in Effective Teaching and Leadership, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum Studies. She has completed Sewanee’s four-year Education for Ministry program and is currently participating with the Haden Institute’s Spiritual Direction Program. Shelly is bi-vocational, splitting her time between Faith at the Crossroads and Butler University, where she is a Professor of Education and Senior Fellow in the Office of the Provost. She believes that her life’s vocational purpose is to help others discover their own.
She is married to Bryan Furuness, a professor, writer, and seminarian, and is mother to two adult children: Elijah and Evan–retired Trinity acolytes. She and her family have worshiped at Trinity since 2009.
