Beloveds of God,
“Behold, I am doing a new thing!”
As members of our community continue to receive vaccinations for the COVID-19 virus and infection numbers continue to lower in our county and state, I am encouraged that there is some light at the end of this tunnel. As such, the Trinity clergy, staff and Regathering Taskforce have determined that we are able to bring back limited in-person worship in the church, in addition to the online offerings which we will continue to provide.
I’m writing to announce that, for the season of Lent, we will offer spoken Holy Eucharist, indoors, on Sunday mornings at 8 a.m. and Wednesday evenings at 5:30 p.m. To begin, each service will have a restriction of 35 people (approximately 15% of capacity). As was our process in the summer and fall, each week we will post registration links on Monday mornings.
We will continue to offer our primary service, at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings as an online offering. For the season of Lent, however, we will use live Zoom services to bring our community closer together in their journey of this holy season. Stay tuned for more details about that.
For those of you in higher risk categories (see HERE), the Regathering Task Force recommends that you wait until you receive the vaccine to attend in-person indoor worship. There are still many unknowns about the vaccine—including its efficacy against variants and transmission to others. As such, all established best practices that we have been practicing as a community—wearing masks, hand sanitizing, physical distancing, registration for gatherings, avoidance of congregational singing, and of course staying home when unwell—will remain in place at this time.
Some among us may be frustrated that we are not further along in the regathering process. I know that I am! Seeing you on Zoom for Annual Meeting only whetted my appetite for our community to be together again. But I am happy that we are making *some* progress towards that goal.
This will be our plan for worship on Sundays and Wednesday in Lent from February 21 to March 21. Our Ash Wednesday noon service will also be in the church sanctuary, with a live streamed service available online at 7pm. Soon we will be communicating a worship plan for Holy Week, Easter and beyond.
Thank you for your continued mutual care, patience and faithfulness. I look forward to walking the sacred path of Lent with you —however we can, wherever we are.
