Adult Formation Series: Coffee & Theology | Sundays at 9AM in the Fortune Room
Every wonder, “why isn’t there adult Sunday School?” This adult formation series attempt to answer that question by focusing on theology and the faith lives of adults. Speakers come from Trinity and the wider region with a range of topics including travel, the arts, the Lectionary, and Lent practices. Childcare provided. 9:00AM on Sundays in the Fortune Room.
Sunday, September 20 | Choir Pilgrimage Presentation
Dr. Michael Messina and Choir members will present on their recent pilgrimage to England (July 2015) and how the experience of travel, a robust singing schedule, visiting sacred places, and fellowship has influenced their faith life.
Sunday, September 27 – October 18 | Who is Paul and why is he saying such terrible things about us?
The Reverend Jean Smith, Trinity parishioner and Retired Episcopal Priest will be leading this series on Paul. Please bring a bible, NRSV (New Revised Standard Version) or the NEB (New English Bible).
Week one – overview where we’ll try to piece together a “biography” of Paul and his understanding of the Gospel, and his expectations of the churches he has founded. Including an encapsulation from letters to the Romans and Corinthians.
Week two – discussion about 1 Thessalonians, the earliest letter and the earliest writing in the New Testament.
Week three – exploration of Philippians.
Week four – explorations of Galatians, undoubtedly the most difficult as Paul is on an all-out tirade against the Galatians.

Sunday, November 1 – All Saints Day | Grief and the End of Life
The Reverend Mary Bargiel will lead this conversation which explores how we handle grief and care for ourselves and others as we approach end of life. Mary is a deacon serving at Trinity. She is also Director of Spirituality and Chaplain at Signature Healthcare Lafayette and Chaplain at IU Saxony Hospital.
Sunday, November 8 | Deacons Among Us
The Reverend Mary Bargiel, Trinity Deacon and Cathy Scott, Deacon at Holy Family Fishers will discuss this unique calling which places emphasis on acting as the conduit between the church and the world. Deacons assist congregations to understand how to leave the church and go out into the world to serve, while reminding parishioners to live into their baptismal covenant to friend and care for the poor.

Sunday, November 22 – December 27 | Being a Crazy Christian
The Reverend LaRae Rutenbar, Interim Rector at Trinity, and members from the Adult Formation Team will lead conversations on how, as adult Christians, we can be the hands and feet of Christ in the world. Topics will feature issues and questions posed by the book titled, How to be a Crazy Christian, authored by Bishop-Elect of the Episcopal Church, The Right Reverend Michael Curry. Included in the series will be short (3-5 minute) videos featuring Michael Curry and offered via ChurchNext, an online learning platform for enriching spiritual life and understanding.
