The Indiana Bread for the World team is hosting our annual Offering of Letters Workshop and adding a special community event. Please join us at Trinity Episcopal Church on March 9th, 2019 for a day of networking, training and learning. The workshop and gathering are free to attend, but there will be a $10 charge for those who order a box lunch and register by March 4 (cash or check, payable at the door).
Please click here to register for the event.
Last year, 53 Central Indiana organizations participated in a Joint Ecumenical Offering of Letters delivering over 4,000 letters to Congress and the major cuts we opposed did not happen! We hope that even more will join us this Spring. Previous attendees are encouraged to invite a new congregation to this event.
In 2019, we plan to offer quarterly community-building events for Bread advocates to connect with one another and discuss common issues. To kick this off we have invited Heather Valentine, Bread for the World’s Director of Government Relations, to discuss how the two parties can work together to end hunger. Heather is well-qualified to present this topic. Previously a House Republican Conference staffer, she also served as a press secretary for Speaker John Boehner and the House Education and the Workforce Committee. Heather has served as the Vice President for Government Relations and Communications at the Council for Opportunity in Education and as a Federal Lobbyist for the National Education Association. A graduate of the University of Florida, Heather has been named as a rising star by National Journal and a top lobbyist by the Hill newspaper.
