Alleluia. Christ is risen.

The peacock has long been a resurrection symbol. Ancient legend held that the flesh of a peacock does not decay after death, its tail feathers are shed and renewed more brightly each year, and it is often represented drinking from the fountain of eternal life, as in our mural over the altar. Additionally, the many eyes on the tail fan suggest the all-seeing Eye of God.
