Adults

Adult Forums At certain times during the year, we offer large gatherings in the Fortune Room at 9:15 am when adults in the congregation are invited to gather and share information about our common life.

Seasonal Study Groups During the fall and the season of Lent we offer four- to six-week long study groups gathered around a particular topic.

Education For Ministry (EFM) is a program for lay leadership formation offered at Trinity Church and through many congregations in our diocese. The program was developed by the School of Theology at Sewanee as a way to bring seminary education to congregations. EFM classes meet once a week, September to May.

The Rector’s Study Group meets in the Crist Room each Tuesday at 10 am. This group studies books of the Bible and occasionally reads books by contemporary authors. Newcomers are encouraged to join at any point in time and become part of the group.

Welcome Classes explore the history and heritage of the Anglican Communion, the Episcopal Church and Trinity Church. This class is for those who are new to Trinity and for people who have been here for a while and would like to learn more. The course is offered several times during the year.

Journey in Faith (JiF) is a modern version of the ancient “catechumenal process” of the Christian church. In the early days of the church those who wanted to become members (catechumens) studied and prayed for at least two years before they were baptized and received as full members. Our process runs from October until the Easter season, but follows the early church pattern of prayer, study, mentoring and immersion in the sacred mysteries of the faith. Participants are paired with companions from the congregation with whom they can talk and share their spiritual experiences. The group meets most Wednesdays from 6:30-8 pm in the Fortune Room. Newcomers are welcome at any time and child care is provided.

The Benedictine Study Group focuses on the Rule of St. Benedict, the foundation of western monasticism and how to apply those insights and practices in daily life. The group meets the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month from 9:10–10 am in the Trinity library and schedules occasional retreats for prayer and discernment.

Parents Raising Exceptional People (PREP) is a forum for parents of young children at Trinity to gather for mutual support and encouragement. The group meets once a month (first Sunday) from September to May after the 10:15 service for a child-friendly lunch and gathering time. After lunch, parents participate in a brief program and conversation on a topic related to parenting while children play together in the nursery. Lunch and child care provided; the program ends by 1:30 pm. Check the calendar of events (at the top of the page) for all the listings.
